Supported by the Perspex® brand
This year’s CDW Presents is showing some of the festival’s most ambitious installations, including The Beacon, located at the entrance to Design Fields. Inspired by the Tower of Babel, the 7.5m-tall structure has an internal staircase encased in a typographical design that celebrates multiculturalism. Visitors can climb the staircase to a viewing platform that overlooks where industrial Clerkenwell meets the historical.
Inspired by the Perspex® brand’s iconic colour chain swatches, The Beacon is clad in a colourful grid of acrylic squares. The colour reference of each of the 82 Perspex® Brand squares has been translated into a different language, representing the diverse languages spoken in the borough. The installation celebrates the internationalism of the area and of the design industry as a whole.
