22nd and 24th, at 12.30 am: CPD sessions

The CPD sessions delivered by Figueras focus on the importance of considering seating from the beginning  of the project when designing auditoriums in order to create spaces where people can sit together in comfort. The session will provide an overview of how the shared experience of attending a show or public event has been understood at different points in history.

Architectural Route to British Medical Association, by Neil Cooke (HOK).

The headquarters of the British Medical Association is located in a listed building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The building, which is neo-classical Palladian in style, was purchased by the British Medical Association (the professional association for UK doctors). Now, after a meticulously detailed  restoration plan by the architectural firm HOK, a number of rooms at BMA House are being made available for congresses, conferences, meetings and even weddings. One of these rooms, the Great Hall (which once housed the library), has been equipped with the 6035 Mutaflex system by Figueras. Thanks to this automatic movable seating system, the space can be used to hold various types of events. See how it works!
