Bringing together absolute finesse and elegance, each ring is sculpted in CAD and further CNC milled out of two solid 5mm sheet aluminium.

A delicate high density controllable 6mm LED strip sits inside the ring creating an internal halo of light, that moves dynamically around the individual addressable LEDs.

Held together through minute mechanical fixings, it hangs from above as a weightless glow.

The Humanscale installtion will bring together nine rings suspended from the ceiling. Light will respond in realtime to the movement of people throughout the space. Light and shadow will create waves of movements that move magestically around the participants.The installation will entice audiences to stand beneath the illuminated rings to witness the interactive LED lights omitted from the artworks. The room will light up with the circular movements of the separate rings combining to create one fluid light show.

As the participants enter the room and pass underneath, the light from the illuminated rings follow each user. This ultimately creates an arrangement of eclipses. Not only is the spectrum
of light from one ring to the other, influenced by this movement, but so are the shadows that are cast from the remaining rings.

Continuing the legacy of Humanscale, the Lighting intensity and flow will be determined by the number of people in the room. It will sporadically change from local lighting to task lighting as the numbers of participants increase and decrease throughout the day.
