The theme for this year is "Human Performance". Inspired by a current research project with the Royal College of Art on the influence of theatre design on workplace environments, our showroom features furniture and spaces to enhance performance at work. We also display new projects by Animation and Illustration students and graduates of the RCA and also scenography exhibition works from the Central School of Speech & drama exploring ideas about the body, movement, performance and productivity. Throughout the 3 day festival we will also encourage visitors to take part in an interactive exercise entitled 'The Workspace I wanted'. Visitors will be given a white box, which can be cutomised in any way they want, with the option to cut out windows/doors to connect it to other boxes. Visitors can take their creation away with them or leave them in the showroom creating a 'tower of workspaces'. · Living Stages: What can workplaces learn from theatre design? The Royal College of Art is engaged in a research project, entitled "Living Stages: what can workplaces learn from theatre design?". This research gives insights into human performance which is at the heart of Haworth's approach to creating the ideal workspace with the ideal furniture. Haworth will host workshops and a lecture on the research project during the design fair. There will be two workshops each day, run by Imogen Privett, RCA researcher and on Wednesday 23rd May, Professor Jeremy Myerson, guest lecturer from the RCA's Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, will give a presentation.
