Hotel Design: Ham Yard Hotel
Firmdale Hotels added its eighth London property the boutique Ham Yard Hotel to their growing portfolio. Owners Tim and Kit Kemp have revived a tired corner of the city and created a luxurious urban village atmosphere in the heart of Soho.
Award winning designer Kit Kemp decorated the hotel’s 91 individually designed rooms in her signature eclectic style. Bespoke pattern dominates, everywhere you look in the lobby, lift or bathroom there is a print, painting or decorative piece of furniture that catches your eye.
Bedding is crisp, white in contrast to the pattern. All of the bathrooms have a polished granite floor, with chrome fittings and white sinks.
Firmdale believe comfort is key. “There is always a good reading light by a comfortable chair, a really good desk that you can work at and plug in what you need to, and an end of bed footstool to put on your shoes. I want people to feel good when they stay with us,” said Kit.
Alongside the hotel’s 91 individually designed bedrooms and suites there are 24 residential apartments, a collection of 13 individual specialist stores, an airy restaurant and bar with outdoor dining and drinking.
