darc thoughts: Women in Design

Trained as a lighting designer Anna started her career in 2006 in Moscow when she co-founded a new lighting design practice. Her first seven years were spent developing business and promoting lighting design through her work on private and public projects of a variety of scale including – Moscow Sheremetyevo airport Terminal D and city park Krymskaya embankment in central Moscow. She has consulted for one of the largest Russian luxury multi-brand retailers, taught at the university where she studied and launched the first lighting design short course in Russia in collaboration with Moscow architectural school in partnership with London Metropolitan University.
Anna left for London in 2013 to learn from professionals in the industry and be in the European centre of architecture. Currently a director at independent lighting practice Light Bureau and a board member of the parent company AF Lighting.
In her role Anna looks to develop design collaborations and the strategic future of the company. As well as continuing to work on projects from small installations to city masterplanning with the goal to democratise great lighting and make it accessible to more people.
