In a small Industrial Unit in Lancashire, Takumi  Woodwork creates exquisite hand made Japanese inspired furniture and everyday items from all types of beautiful hardwoods.

During time spent in Japan, Louis, with a background in carpentry and joinery, spent time with furniture makers and was keen to learn as much as possible about the subject, which is gaining popularity worldwide. It is common for woodworkers in many countries to use Japanese hand tools as they are known for their high quality steel, simple and beautiful form.

Takumi is a Japanese word meaning ‘artisan’ or ‘craft’. The company takes inspiration from Japan, where handcrafted workmanship is celebrated. With so much mass manufactured these days, Takumi truly takes pleasure and is passionate about creating unique, one off hand made pieces. Each item is intended to last generations, rather than be disregarded after a couple of years.
