Your Tote Counts intends to address the issue of a surplus of tote bags replacing unsustainable plastic bags. A Screen Press installation will be situated in the Garden of St. James, where visitors can bring unwanted totes to be customised with designs created by Chelsea College of Art students giving them new life, with proceeds going to Maggie’s Centre, while an exhibition at Design Fields will display a collection of favourite tote bags, chosen by a selection of designers and design writers.
Recycled totes will be upcycled live at the festival, with five designs selected from Chelsea College of Art graphic design students, working alongside Print Club London to breathe new life into old bags.
5 striking designs will be printed, with an esteemed judging panel having chosen 4 of them.
Judges included: Max Fraser – CDW content editor, James McLachlam editor of Icon magazine, Danielle Pender editor of Riposte magazine, Joe Joiner creative director & designer, and David Barnett Chelsea Collage of Art course leader, BA Graphic Design Communication.
