Officially Climate Positive

Moventi Ltd. Stand: Moventi Ltd

Moventi is a certified Climate Positive business, which means that we have gone beyond carbon neutral status, to offset at least 110% of our impact. After pro-actively working to reduce our carbon footprint in recent years, we are offsetting any remaining impact, and also reversing the environmental impacts of others by supporting the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Project.

We achieved this Climate Positive status by working closely with the professionals, who helped us calculate and erase at least 110% of our operational emissions through VCS verified nature-based solutions. Part of this journey is contributing to projects around the globe that are dedicated to avoiding carbon emissions and preserving natural habitats, including the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve.

This is a project close to our heart, located in Indonesian Borneo, Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve is a 64,000-ha project, centred around Peatland Protection. The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project is protecting one of the most highly endangered ecosystems in the world. Without this project, the carbon-rich, peatland forest of Rimba Raya would have long since been turned into palm oil estates, emitting over 100 million tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere. Instead, the project is protecting the land, and working with local communities to achieve all the 17 SDGs and conserving one of the last wild orangutan populations on Earth.

The Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly. They are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future”. The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Project is working with local communities to achieve all the 17 SDGs and are proactively targeting and monitoring the SDGs with local communities. Improving jobs, education, equality, water, food and energy supply in the local surrounding area. Projects like this are so important, as the reserve is a buffer zone protecting the integrity of adjacent, world-renowned Tanjung Puting National Park, home to many wild orangutans. Peatlands are an underrepresented ecosystem in carbon markets, yet they are the largest natural store of carbon on land, home to many organisms found nowhere else. Protecting rich biodiversity, including 65 endangered animal and plant species, and playing an outsized role in reducing floods, drought and wildfire.
