Aeron Chair
Aeron Chair designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick
The most recognised and admired office chair in the world, Aeron offers revolutionary ergonomic support for the widest range of shapes and sizes. Ergonomic to the core, Aeron was designed for a wide range of body types, thanks to the extensive research from designers Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick. At its launch, the chair was pioneering in the office furniture industry - and it still is, thanks to updated research and ongoing material innovation, including the addition of ocean-bound plastic to the body of the chair. In 2021, Aeron became the first chair in Herman Miller’s portfolio to be made with ocean-bound plastic.
Where comfort meets support
The Aeron Chair has set the benchmark for ergonomic seating since the classic design debuted in 1994. Since then, we’ve continued learning about how to best support people - and their postures. Remastered in 2016, Aeron offers smarter weight distribution through 8Z Pellicle, adjustable PostureFit SL for total spinal support, and balanced recline and natural movement thanks to Harmonic 2 Tilt.
Designed for the elements
Aeron is available in a palette of four meticulously curated material expressions centered on elements pulled from the earth. Onyx is a dramatic ultra-black shade intended to modernise Aeron. Graphite is a distinctive dark grey, with a classic textured finish. Carbon offers a balanced neutral that works equally well in warm and cool environments. Mineral is the lightest and illuminates Aeron's finer points, ideal for open floorplans and spaces. Each component of the chair was thoughtfully designed, creating a fundamentally harmonious colour palette.
Sustainability from the start
For almost 30 years, we’ve been perfecting Aeron so that it’s not only good for your body, but good for the environment, too. Aeron’s legacy of sustainability proved pioneering in both ergonomics and material innovation, without relying on the standard use of foam, fabric or leather found in most office chairs at the time. Aeron is composed of more than 50 per cent recycled material, including ocean-bound plastic.
Performance in the ESD workplace
We believe that everyone deserves a good seat. And we understand that ESD workplaces have special requirements when it comes to furnishings – especially seating, which can be a major source of electrostatic discharges. So, we created an ESD-compliant version of the revolutionary Aeron. Aeron ESD meets multiple global ESD standards – and our own exacting quality standards.
