Wi Chair
A compact, minimalist task chair that distils decades of dynamic seating intelligence into its most stripped-back form yet. Designed by Alina Schnizler, its aesthetic is defined by ‘timeless transparency’ with a design language that celebrates structural logic rather than concealing it behind bulky covers. Its patented 3D range of motions is achieved through a single, maintenance-free, torsion-elastic steel swing-arm replaces the complex mechanical systems found in conventional task chairs. Winner of German Sustainability Award 2026.
- Less is more: The WiChair consists of just a few components. Which saves material and boosts its lifespan considerably.
- Simple to repair: All parts are easy to dismantle and replace. As a result, the chair remains in use for a long time.
- Avoiding fossil-fuel based plastics: We use steel instead of petroleum-based plastics. Steel is stable, can be recycled an infinite number of times and has a comparatively low carbon footprint.
- Recyclable cushioning: Based on the mass balance approach, up to 40% of the optional foam cushioning is recycled.
- Natural materials: The seat and backrest shell are made of FSC-certified plywood.
- Climate-friendly production: Each WiChair has a product carbon footprint starting at 31 kg CO₂ eq.
Designed in 2025, the WiChair is the fifth in the ‘Journey of Dynamic Seating’ series exhibited at CDW26.
