Leku
Leku (‘place’ in Basque) consists of two different approaches, but a unique spirit. Inspired by the work of Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida, this collection of dining and coffee tables plays with concepts like emptiness, time and territory. How? Through evocative shapes and materials. Oval and round dining tables sport egg-shaped fused glass tops resting on robust FSC certified sapele legs. The textured glass is a mirror for the landscape thus inviting the surroundings to this interesting dialogue between opposites: emptiness and volume, light and shade, texture and softness. Each Leku table is an habitable sculpture, a place for celebration.
On the other hand, Leku coffee tables help create a more intimate atmosphere. Without giving up on the architectural and sculptural spirit of the collection, Leku coffee tables’ purpose is less grandiose and truer to their essence: a non-imposing accompaniment. The structure made of aluminium plate –bringing up again Chillida’s work with steel– sprouts like an old root from the ground, filled with memories and with that serenity only ancient things have. The fused glass captures light and returns it in soft whispers. Art, architecture, craftsmanship, design… all come together in Leku.
