New Sapienstone Surfaces: Travessa, Breccia Rosa 4D and Muschelkalk
Travessa draws from one of the most recognizable materials in Western architecture: travertine. Its parallel veining, tones ranging from ivory to hazelnut, and its ability to be both compact and deep—making it timeless—are all brought here into a new dimension. Sapienstone captures its essence in a welcoming surface, capable of bringing warmth and balance to contemporary spaces. The Natural finish reveals the full structure of the stone, its authentic materiality, and that sense of depth perceived even at a touch. The slabs, available in a 320×160 cm format with a thickness of 12 mm, are designed for expansive, continuous surfaces: when placed vertically one above the other, the pattern extends seamlessly, making joints almost imperceptible. The veining continues along the short side, creating a sense of breadth and continuity in an uninterrupted flow, as if the stone had no end.
Breccia Rosa 4D introduces a more decisive and striking character. Inspired by Veronese brecciated marble, also known as Breccia Pernice, it is built on a complex chromatic structure: antique pink, terracotta, and powder tones crossed by irregular veins that convey the full material strength of the stone. A surface that defines space even before it is observed in detail. Color is now a protagonist in the language of design, fashion, and contemporary art, and here it becomes full, layered matter. Pink, which has gained prominence in architectural palettes, finds in Breccia Rosa 4D a complex and material form, capable of giving identity to a space with a lasting presence. Iris Ceramica Group’s 4D technology brings this richness even deeper: the pattern continues through the body of the slab beyond the surface, ensuring visual consistency even in edge finishing, with the same chromatic intensity from the exterior to the interior. Available in 320×160 cm format and in 12 mm and 20 mm thicknesses, Breccia Rosa 4D is offered in the Cashmere finish, which envelops the ceramic in a velvety softness—a caress that invites touch.
Muschelkalk concludes the narrative with a more subtle yet equally incisive voice. Inspired by a sedimentary limestone from Central Europe, rare in its most intact form, it carries a palette suspended between warm and cool tones, from beige to grey, with delicate hints of brown. A chromatic composition that develops organically through fluid transitions that mimic natural sedimentary deposition. Its distinctive chromatic fluidity ensures visual coherence even across large surfaces, accompanying space without interruption. Available in 320×160 cm format and 12 mm thickness, Muschelkalk comes in the Natural finish: while the eye perceives a harmonious and understated palette, the hand discovers a symphony of textures. The Natural finish brings to the surface the full sedimentary complexity of the original stone, translating it into a texture that is experienced above all through touch.
Three surfaces, three interpretations of matter, three different ways of engaging with space. And yet, a single vision: that of Sapienstone, which considers every surface a creative act and looks at natural matter the way “haute couture” looks at fabric—with the same care for proportion, the same attention to detail, and the same ambition to turn matter into an experience. Design transformed into matter.
