Terrasale forms part of the Marca Corona 1741 Line, created by the company – the oldest in the Sassuolo ceramics district – to celebrate the tradition of the master ceramics craftsmen of the past, revitalising it in contemporary taste.

The collection comprises a single size of 20x20 cm and exploits these small square tiles’ decorative impact and applicational versatility to superlative effect. The colour assortment is wide, with ten shades: Cenere, Gemma, Sabbia, Bamboo, Sorgente, Basalto, Sughero, Cotto, Bosco and Laguna. They can be combined to create dynamic installation layouts, constructed around the single module or larger multiples. The basic monochrome grid can also be enlivened by using grouts in contrasting shades.

The collection’s design potential is enhanced by two contrasting decors with matt backgrounds. Their decoration is inspired by the antique glazing techniques once used on basalt surfaces. This technique gives us the geometrical designs of Astro, with graphics partly evoking historic and partly mid-century themes, and the glossy, more nebulous effects of Lacca. With Astro, the pale, matt base can be enlivened with a contrasting dark, glossy curved, symmetrical motif. The colour variants – Cenere, Gemma, Sabbia, Bamboo and Sorgente – can also be combined with the other shades in the collection. This decor is suitable for use on both walls and floors, where its technical and aesthetic potentials are exploited to the full. Lacca, on the other hand, focuses on the saturated colours and shine of vitreous glaze of the type craftsmen once applied to Balsatina lava stone. It offers colours of this nature in Nero, Bruno, Rosso, Verde and Blu. Suitable for use on walls, Lacca can also be installed on floors provided it is alternated with occasional matt surfaces and is used in rooms which do not require a high level of anti-slip performance.
