Matthew and Celia Burt started their company in 1978, setting out to design and make furniture from timber sourced from as close to their Wiltshire HQ as possible and to create pieces to hand down from generation to generation.
Ever since, they have been producing furniture unique in its provenance and longevity whilst keeping alive the tradition of passing on skills, ancient and modern, to a team of apprentices and master makers.
Works are, predominantly, bespoke projects but, over the years, a resume of favourite pieces has been brought together to form a made-to-order ‘Collection’.
This multi-award-winning company has been at the forefront of contemporary British design and making for almost five decades, championing English timbers and exemplary craftsmanship.
Matthew Burt is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Society of Designer Craftsmen and has won numerous prestigious awards for his work.
