The global sensation that is Aeron Hockey is coming to Clerkenwell Design Week for the first time to celebrate 25 years since the chair’s launch. Held at Herman Miller’s pop-up installation in Brewhouse Yard, visitors are invited to come and take part in this fun, fast-paced sport.
Office hockey was born as office workers across the globe aimed balls of paper at daydreaming colleagues. Launched in 1994, the Aeron Chair changed perceptions of what office chairs could be. The ergonomic comfort and ground-breaking pellicle suspension which were such gamechangers in the world of work also gave life to Aeron Hockey – now widely enjoyed as an energetic team building exercise around the world. Then in 2016, just as iconic films and albums are updated for new audiences, Aeron was remastered to meet the needs of today’s work, workers and work environments (and Aeron Hockey matches.)
Two teams of five players sat on Aeron Chairs battle it out during a ten-minute match. Running over the three days of CDW 2019, a rolling tournament will give everyone from beginners through to experienced players a chance to play for the reds or the blues, with the winning side being announced on Thursday evening. Who will triumph and who will lose out?
For your chance to take part in this ground-breaking sport, just turn up, take a seat and play. No need to book.
