West Bridgford Joinery launches bespoke ‘Peak Profiles’ collection of British-made solid timber wall panelling

Nottingham-based workshop West Bridgford Joinery will unveil Peak Profiles, its new range of bespoke decorative cladding and wall panelling, at Clerkenwell Design Week on 23-25 May 2023 in the festival’s new Catapult showroom.

Designers and architects can choose from one of six off-the-shelf designs or develop their own bespoke shapes and profiles by collaborating with the workshop’s experienced in-house designers and skilled craftspeople to create a more unique feature moulding. Options range from European oak, ash, walnut, sapele, walnut, beech or cherry wood, which can be stained or painted in a range of colours to match existing furniture and colour schemes. The feature moulding is also available with various different sheen levels and backing options.

West Bridgford Joinery founder and director, Alex Adgar, designed Peak Profiles to offer a more fluid approach to the design process. He said: “The decorative cladding can be bespoke made to suit any interior project. There’s nothing we can’t do. We often work with interior designers who have a very specific vision for their wall panelling and the Peak Profiles range can be designed to match whatever the designer has in mind. Because the Peak Profiles range is made entirely in our workshop, we have complete control from start to finish. Each part of the making process can be amended to suit the designer’s creative vision.”

The Peak Profiles collection is designed and assembled in the West Bridgford Joinery workshop and supplied by locally-based timber suppliers.

Each profile has a different story and is named after a ridge in the joinery workshop’s local Peak District, including Bamford, Millstone, Rivelin, Wharncliffe, Baslow, Birchen and Higger.

Prices start from £300 per sheet. All the Peak Profiles panels are not restricted to standard sheet sizes. Please enquire to discuss how any technical challenges can be overcome with the experienced design team.

Higger was designed to show the creative potential of wood panelling. It is made with off-cuts of wood and obsolete moulds in different shapes, sizes, colours and textures from West Bridgford Joinery’s workshop, ensuring Alex’s commitment to reducing his company’s environmental impact. The upcycled timber moulds will be arranged to play with texture and colour and different profiles can be combined to create a heavily textured surface. Alex added: “The Higger profile presents designers with an opportunity to put their own stamp on an interior space. Wood panelling has been used so much over the last ten years, we wanted to create something very different to enable designers to be playful and creative.”

The Peak Profiles range can be used to create backdrops to residential and commercial areas. It was recently specified by Virgile + Partners’ design for luxury health club Third Space’s new Marylebone gym, where punctuated vertical slats of solid timber were fixed to walls that West Bridgford Joinery constructed off-site.

The Peak Profiles panelling can be incorporated into standard architectural details like doorways, apertures and features and the in-house design team will take it into consideration from the initial design stages. West Bridgford Joinery offers an installation service for the Peak Profiles range, so customers can have the panels installed by the makers.

The Baslow and Wharncliffe profiles are the range’s acoustic wall panelling offering and each design can be made with FSC-certified wood. The panelling can be made compliant with building regulations by being made fire-rated to ‘Class O’ standard.

The panelling has a 6-8 week lead time, which doesn’t include the design stage.
