Alan McVitty brings more than three decades of international design leadership to his role as Studio Practice Leader at ROAM Interior Design, leading the firm’s London office. A seasoned creative and strategic advisor, Alan is recognized for delivering highly considered interiors across luxury hospitality, residential, commercial and marine, with a career defined by design integrity, operational rigor and enduring client relationships.
Throughout his career, Alan has led complex projects from concept through completion, guiding multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a sharp focus on quality, innovation and execution. His expertise spans creative direction, FF&E strategy, contract negotiations and practice development, making him a trusted partner to global brands, owners and operators alike. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Alan builds and mentors high-performing teams, fostering a culture where creativity and accountability coexist.
Prior to joining ROAM, Alan founded and led M Studio London for over two decades, establishing the firm as a respected design practice with a diverse international portfolio. His work includes high-profile hospitality and marine projects for Cunard Line, Windstar Cruises, Saga Cruises and Crystal Cruises, as well as hotel projects for InterContinental Hotels Group across Europe. Additional experience includes major mixed-use and urban developments in London, luxury residential work throughout the UK and Europe, and early-career contributions to landmark global projects such as the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. Alan also has extensive experience working on complex historical renovation projects that involved English Heritage requirements, such as the Royal Automobile Club in London, the Billesley Manor Hotel and Oakley Court Hotel in Windsor, as well as UNESCO World Heritage Sites like InterContinental Hotel Edinburgh, The George. Alan’s career includes senior leadership roles at KCA International, Harrods and Key Interiors and Design, where he honed his ability to balance design vision with commercial strategy and operational precision.
With a global perspective shaped by extensive travel and cross-cultural collaboration, Alan approaches design with curiosity, sensitivity and a deep appreciation for context. His passion for gastronomy and hospitality further informs his work, resulting in environments that are not only visually compelling but experientially rich.
