Director , Allies and Morrison

Oli is a Director at Allies and Morrison, a practice of architects and urbanists. Allies and Morrison strive to design beautiful buildings that have long life and can adapt over the generations. They also shape enduring places, whether new pieces of city or settlements at any scale. All their projects are concerned with the crafting of every detail and an appreciation for the uniqueness of each context.

The range of Oli’s work spans from art centres to small restaurants to global events, ranging from discrete new insertions to altogether new facilities. In recent years, he has focused on arts and education projects.

He was a key designer in the Grade I listed Royal Festival Hall transformation project, leading the refurbishment of its foyers, and maintains a role today as the principal contact for our house architect role. More recently, he has delivered a new arts and media faculty building for Manchester Metropolitan University incorporating a 200-seat theatre and poetry library.

For over a decade he has led Allies and Morrison’s work at Shakespeare’s Globe, which included the completion of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and new foyer spaces and, more recently, developing the design of a new Research and Collections facility on the Bankside site.

Oli is currently leading major projects at Clandon Park for the National Trust, where a fire ravaged Grade I listed Palladian villa is being transformed into a new cultural venue; at Wimbledon, developing an ambitious new vision for the future of the tennis championships across an expanded site for the All England Lawn Tennis Club; and at the Barbican Centre, fronting the Barbican Renewal project, a major capital programme that will ensure every part of the iconic site is restored, revitalised and relevant for future generations.
