Salma Garana
Salma is a GREEN GRAD of 2025, with a BA in Product and Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins. She is the inventor of Acetex, a yarn made from cellulose acetate obtained from waste cigarette filters (an abundant resource) blended with British wool, which is acoustic, moisture-resistant, non-flammable and thermally regulating. Thus it is ideal for the Acoustate panels for thermal and acoustic insulation, which Salma has also invented. These are refillable, repairable, and recyclable, and the backbone of a cradle-to-cradle design philosophy. Each panel has a refillable construction of cigarette rods and loose fibre that can be replenished under warranty. Used materials can be collected through a takeback scheme, then reprocessed into new yarn, for a fully closed-loop system.
