Outside Farringdon Station, Outside Old Sessions House & Inside Church of Design

Automatica was an interactive installation by architect Simon Astridge in collaboration with B Corp accredited Italian tile manufacturer Italgraniti. Located at three Clerkenwell Design Week sites, visitors could vend a porcelain tile sample using a token from the Solus showroom. Automatica explored the interdependent relationship between machines and people and was inspired by Italgraniti’s automated Emilia-Romagna factory. The adapted machines by Arcitile, which customarily dispense food and drink, now nourish design. This playful activation, both nostalgic and futuristic, was emblematic of the spirit of Italgraniti.
