Italian Talks

Italian Talks

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) hosted three talks across CDW 2025, featuring some leading names across the architecture and design community.

Wise Materials: From Ancestral Know-How to Modern Design

The theme revolved around the sustainable value of traditional materials (such as
glass and wood) and the age-old wisdom of resourcefulness (think water-saving
practices, material reuse, and more) set against the backdrop of today’s fast-paced
race for the development of new materials and technologies.

This was not a case of one approach against the other, but rather an exploration of
how both paths - tradition and innovation - ultimately strive toward the same goal:
building a more sustainable and conscious future for design and architecture.

Speakers: William Knight - Co-Founder, Material Matters, Stephen Philips - Product Design Leader, Arup
Moderator: Daniel Gava - Board Advisor to the Design Industry

Italian Ceramics: A Responsible Choice for Contemporary Architecture

Roundtable discussion that explored how ceramics—rooted in Italian craftsmanship—are increasingly recognised as a sustainable and emotionally resonant material for today’s built environment.

A Conversation with Sofia Hagen: Inspiring Design in an Ever-Changing Scenario

A Conversation with Sofia Hagen: Inspiring Design in an Ever-Changing Scenario

An informal and inspirational session, centred around Sofia’s personal story as a well-established designer. She shared her journey, her vision of contemporary design, her approach to wellness and sustainability, and her thoughts on today’s ever-evolving industry landscape.
